Why I started my 4th blog!!

So....I read this post on Facebook by Lizzy Bean (my daughter-in-law's sister). She was talking about how positive and uplifting actions are not the norm anymore. Well....I have always believed that one person can make a difference in this dark world....bringing a wee bit of light with them. So, I thought...what can I do about this? Maybe a "blog" isn't the answer. What I CAN say, is that these last few days, have been so inspiring, that I wanted to share my thoughts and feelings and more than that my "observations."
I will start out by saying that I determined to "watch" people doing good things for others! I was not dissapointed.
Tuesday I went to my mom's to hang out. We went to lunch and then came back and watched "Take the Lead" with Antonio Banderas. In this movie (in case you haven't seen it) He plays a Ballroom Dance instructor who takes on a detention class in a lower income bracket school. In one scene, he is waiting in the office to meet and talk to the principle. He is sitting by this punk student. Antonio keeps getting up and opening the door for any female that goes in or out. The student asks why he does that and scoffs at it. Antonio tells him it is out of respect. The principle calls Antonio into her office and you see the student has taken over the job of opening the door for females coming in and out! ha!
So with this scene in mind.....the very next day at school.....I am checking students books in and students are choosing books (OH! did I tell you I am a librarian at an elementary school?) This student...who, by the way, forgot to bring his books back.....was standing by the door. A few teachers randomly came through the library and he would open the door for them. Yeah.....I noticed! I just sat there and watched and looked at him. He looked at me and said "what?" Then I asked him why he opened the door for those teachers? He grinned and shrugged his shoulders and said....wait for it......"My mom and I just watched this movie last night. I smiled and asked "which one? " ok....you know what one he said, don't you??? "Then he said his mom told him he looked like Antonio!" LOVE. IT. Now, talk about lighting the world!
PS... Oh and to the man who opened the door for me at FYE....Thank you!
